I worked at a local grocery store through high school. During what seemed to be a regular workday, I received a book from an anonymous person titled "Cain and Abel". There was an inscription inside the front cover that reads "you have the choice".
I never found out who left it, but fast forward many years and this choice remains clear as ever. We all have the capacity to do a great deal of good or too much of the opposite.
And so I make a commitment in 2022 to do just as John Wesley said in 1799.
“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”
